LIBRARY NEWS! READ ALL ABOUT IT:

Mann Summer Reading Program!

There's still time to participate with the Horace Mann Summer Reading Postcard Program .  To find out more about this program please read the letter and postcards will be available on the Horace Mann website, office, and in the Horace Mann Little Library outside the main entrance of our building.

Participating is easy....while your child reads to you, complete the postcard and on the bottom of each postcard, please comment on how your child has improved from one reading to the next.  After completing the postcards, you can hand them in to your classroom teacher by September 30th.  Summer Reading Postcards will be on display during the month of September and students who participate will be recognized with a certificate. Participants will also receive a popcorn pass and earn a free Usborne book. We will also award two lucky winners a $25.00 shopping spree at the Scholastic Book Fair for participating. For each postcard submitted students will be entered into a drawing and we will draw one winner for grades K-2 and one winner for grades 3-5.   We are encouraging all Horace Mann students to participate and if we have greater than 125 students, we will even celebrate with a special school-wide Read In and Dress as your Favorite Book Character Day,  Keep reading and turning in your postcards!

Our Mission: To ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information.

Welcome to the Horace Mann library! Students attend library class once a week for instruction and any students visit the library daily to read, study, and check out books. The school library program is directed by Shannon Leonard.

We have a large collection including books, magazines, and reference materials including online databases. Our collection is constantly growing and we are able to purchase current materials to enhance the curriculum and for student reading pleasure.

We have four computers for students to use for school work and to access Destiny, our electronic catalog during library class time, morning, lunch and afternoon recess.
